ALTHOUGH I've been to Tintern Abbey about 12 times in the past 15 years I've never before seen the ruined chuch which stands on a hill overlooking the abbey. Ev spotted it after we'd been round the abbey and after much debate over whether to drive up to it we discovered we couldn't and me, Ev and Louise set off on foot.

There was a steep cobbled path going up to the church between some of the houses that overlook the abbey.

And it kept going.

Luckily there was a bench at the top of the path next to the entrance to the churchyard, the view from which was fantastic.

Amazingly the churchyard, dating back to Tintern Abbey's founding in 1131, is still in use.
